Propulsion and Avionics

The DA40 is equipped with a state-of-the-art, fully integrated Garmin G1000NXi avionics suite and an optional ultra-precise GFC700 Autopilot System, providing superior situational awareness, ease of use, and safety. Available equipment includes Traffic Alerts, Synthetic Vision Technology, Satellite WX, and Entertainment, among others. Choose between a 168 hp turbocharged AE300 jet fuel engine (DA40 NG) or a Lycoming IO360M1A AVGAS engine (DA40 XLT version) for your DA40. The 3-blade MT hydraulic constant-speed propeller features advanced blade geometry for efficient performance, low vibration, and noise. It 1 is controlled automatically by the engine's digital engine control using a conventional hydraulic control. The DA40 cockpit with Garmin G1000 NXi avionics suite features conventional full-size backup instruments centrally located for optimal viewing from both student and instructor positions, enabling partial panel training. The certified 168hp jet fuel engines from Austro Engine have accumulated over 2.5 million flight hours on over 2,300 engines, ensuring safe and reliable global operations. The Lycoming IO360 delivers smooth and refined performance, with millions of flight hours accumulated in high-utilization operations worldwide, and is well-known and supported by A&Ps everywhere, consistently achieving TBO and beyond.

Fuselage

The composite airframe seamlessly blends advanced aerodynamics with the latest passive safety technology, delivering exceptional performance, optimal efficiency, and superior occupant protection.
